    Diabetic retinopathy is a medical eye condition which can affect those with uncontrolled diabetes or chronic diabetes. It has been found that after 15 years of diabetes, as much as 98% of type 1 diabetics, and 78% of type 2 diabetics have some form of retina impairment. Diabetic retinopathy can occur as signs of bleeding and inflammation in the eye. Unfortunately, diabetic retinopathy has become the leading cause of new cases of blindness in patients between the ages of 20-74 years old.
